Weldon G. M. Cook

 

AKWESASNE – Mr. Weldon Glenn Mark Cook, known to many as “Wild Man”, age 51, of Cook Road, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday morning at his home.

Weldon was born December 4, 1961 in Massena, the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Leafe Cook and attended Massena Central Schools.  Weldon was always doing odd jobs and construction work.  At one time, he worked on oil rigs, at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino, and most recently had been working for Wally Jock.  He enjoyed socializing with his many friends, deer hunting, fishing, and loved having a good time.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Erwin Jacobs of Akwesasne; his brother and sister-in-law, Benjamin “Chucky” and Laura Cook of Long Island; a niece and goddaughter, Cynthia Rubacha Newtown of Syracuse; three nephews, Philip Rubacha of Massena, Benjamin Rubacha of Watertown and Joseph Paul of Akwesasne; his goddaughter, Katelyn I. Cook of Akwesasne; by four aunts, Elda Cook and Leona Cook, both of Akwesasne, Jane Cook of Massena, and Monica Cook of Georgia; and by many cousins including, Woody and Pam Cook of Akwesasne. He was predeceased by his parents, and his grandparents, Mae Cook and Weldon Elger and Charles and Cecelia Leafe.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, Thursday 2-3:30, where memories and a celebration of his life will begin at 3:30 PM.  Following cremation, burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Akwesasne in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club.
