Idle No More – In House

Idle No More – In House

The White Family would like to respond to verify and confirm a few facts, and then some, that was produced by Carol Garrow and her brother, Dan Garrow in the previous letter to the editor.

We would like to clarify that there was never any court decision on the estate matter and it doesn’t mean that it is over. All the real facts in the issue surrounding the Matthew Elmer White’s estate will be presented in a future process and we do not want anyone on that property while it is still under dispute. The Ontario Superior Court Judge Honourable Justice R. Leroy admitted that the Ontario Provincial Court does not have jurisdiction to make a decision on Federal Reservation Lands.

On January 19th, 2013, we invite the Akwesasne community to attend the Kawehnoke Community Center at 2 pm. At this invitation, information regarding the Indian Act pertaining to Lands and Estates will be discussed. We will have open discussion on the responsibilities of an Estate Administrator as outlined by Indian Affairs Canada, and the duties and the liabilities that are required to be followed. The White Family will be introducing sections of the Indian Act for the people with land disputes to understand why they should NOT take their issue to an outside court, because you will not succeed.

The issues in the Garrows’ letter to the editor will be addressed at the gathering on January 19th, 2013, beginning at 2 pm at the Kawehnoke Community Centre.
