Hourly Salary: Pay Band 5 $34,736.81 - $42,766.21

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Director of Care, and direct supervision of the RN and RPN the Personal Support Worker is responsible for providing quality and unique care in all aspects of activities of daily living for the overall well being and support of residents.

DUTIES: Provide proper personal care and assistance with activities of daily living. Assisting residents at mealtimes, dressing, bathing, exercise, grooming and personal care, answers resident call bells, takes vital signs, assists residents to/from and during programmed activities to maintain resident independence and overall physical and mental well-being. Recognizes and identifies changes in resident /client behavior or condition and reports to supervisor. Changing linens, make beds, clean equipment, stock supplies, directs and assists visitors, and generally provides support to the shift supervisor, residents and facility overall.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Personal Support Worker Certificate and one year work experience in caring for the elderly preferably in a Long Term Care setting. Compliance with MCA public health policies; current immunizations; Hepatitis, influenza vaccines and recent TB results. Must be able to lift and transfer residents and able to work under conditions requiring constant standing, walking, bending and stretching. Ability to communicate well with others; dependable and honest; Able to understand and maintain confidentiality. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Mohawk Language an asset. Must be able to work some weekends and holidays in accordance with the scheduling needs of the facility.
