Friday marked the end of the school year for most of the students in the area, and to celebrate this, the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club held its end of the year party. Jessica Cree Jock explained that every year they celebrate the completion of the school year, and it’s an incentive for the kids.

Catching air off the water slide.

The celebration included a barbeque, waterslide, bouncy house, and a DJ. The kids were having a great time, especially on the waterslide, where the line to go down the slide was just longer than the slide itself. There were great tunes and food, and it was a great way to keep cool. Casey Swamp showed up with his racecar and the kids got to take photos and climb inside.

Services ended on Friday as well, but many of the kids will go to the Summer Program, which starts July 9th at the St. Regis Mohawk School, following a two-week break. Services will start back up at the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club for the kids on September 6th, coinciding with the start of the school year. Jock noted that the Tech Center would be open to the public daily 9AM – 3PM, throughout the summer.

Jock said, “I want to send a big thank you to the staff who have helped coordinate, and to my staff member Aaron who volunteered his time to be the DJ, and to Casey Swamp for bringing his race car for the kids.”
