The Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education has requested that an Election be held for the Following seats.

District of Kanatakon: One Three (3) Year Term

District of Kawehno:ke: One Three (3) Year Term

District of Tsi Snaihne: One One (1) Year Term

Nominations will be held from the hours of 9:00 am to 4 pm on Saturday June 2, 2012 at the following locations:

District of Kanatakon: St. Regis Recreation Center

District of Kawehno:ke: Tri District Elders Lodge

District of Tsi Snaihne: Snye HomeMakers Club

Pursuant with section 6 of the Ahkwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education Election and By-election Regulations, to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesahsne Mohawk Board of Education, one must:

a) be an enrolled member of the Mohawks of Akwesasne;

b) be Onkwehonwe and at least one of their natural parents must be a Member of Akwesasne;

and

c) be at least eighteen (18) years of age; and

d) consent to having their name be nominated for the purpose of running as a candidate on

the Board of Education; and

e) be a resident in that District for at least six (6) months immediately prior to their

nomination; and

f) maintain residency in that District during the term of office; and

g) not have been convicted within five (5) years of nomination; of an indictable offense in

Canada or a felony in the United States; and

h) not be an employee of the Board of Education;

i) not have been removed from the Board of Education.

Elections if needed will be held on June 30, 2012 from 9a.m. to 6p.m. at the following locations:

District of Kanatakon: St. Regis Recreation Center

District of Tsi Snaihne: Snye Homemakers Club

District of Kawehno:ke: Tri District Elders Lodge

Advance Polls will be held on June 19, 2012 by appointment only
