Notice to the Community

This is to inform the community that the following persons have applied for Akwesasne Membership under the Akwesasne Membership Code.

Dakota Earnest Peter Thompson, age 17, son of Ivan Thompson (Akwesasne) and Tanya Macmillan Thompson (non-native).

Emmalie Taylor Papineau, age 16, daughter of Todd Papineau (Akwesasne) and Julie Wolynec Papineau (non-native).

Dallas Charles Delormier, age 16, son of Charles Delormier (Akwesasne) and Pascale Aubut Delormier (non-native).

Shaikara Amber David, age 16, daughter of Anthony J. David (Akwesasne) and Lisa Filion (non-native).

Hunter Ethan Conners, age 17, son of Warren Stanley Conners Jr. (Akwesasne) and Jennifer Legacy (non-native).

Aliyah Cook-Butler, age 16, daughter of Katherine Cook (Akwesasne) and Leonard Butler (non-native).

Alan Michael Chubb, age 17, son of Margaret Chubb (Akwesasne) and Joseph Lavare (non-native).

Taheelah-Marie Prairie-Point, age 17, daughter of Robert Michael Point (Akwesasne) and Karen Prairie-Point (non-native).

Peter Louis Buckshot, III, age 18, son of Peter Buckshot Jr. (Akwesasne) and Aliya Muhammed (non-native).

Community Members have until Friday, February 3, 2012 to indicate whether they wish to make submissions regarding the above applicants, by contacting the Office of Vital Statistics.

At a meeting of the Akwesasne Membership Board on December 10, 2011, the Membership Board granted probationary membership to Tarri Hasty and Malinda Villeneuve.  and full Akwesasne Membership to Brittany White and Skylar Villeneuve.

Also, at the Akwesasne Membership Board meeting of January 14, the Board granted probationary membership to Karen Cooke, probationary membership and Residency Permits to Wanda East and Kallie Diabo and granted a one year Residency Permit for Monica Papineau.

In addition, at the Akwesasne Membership Board meeting of January 21, the Akwesasne Membership determined that Teiosakentison Elijah successfully completed her five year probationary period and granted her full Akwesasne Membership.  The Board also granted full Akwesasne Membership to Jenna David and Kaleigh King and a one year Residency Permit to Scottie Hill.

Furthermore, community members wishing to appeal the Membership Board’s decisions on the above applicants have 30 days to appeal to the Council of Elders.
