AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION – A Hogansburg woman was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility after she was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle Thursday afternoon. Massena-based state police charged Danielle C. Smoke, 28, of 84 Cree Road, Hogansburg, with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and ticketed her for having no distinctive plate and operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 12:15 p.m. Thursday on the Rooseveltown Highway. She was arraigned by Massena Town Justice James M. Crandall and sent to the county jail with bail set at $2,750 cash or $5,500 bond. The court noted Smoke had forfeited $250 bail in January 2010 for failing to appear in court on a previous second-degree AUO charge. Troopers had additionally charged her with bail jumping in July 2010 for failing to return to court on that count. She also failed to appear as directed on a third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle charge pending since October 2009. Smoke is scheduled to reappear Dec. 14 in town court.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS – A Massena man was charged with second-degree criminal trespass at 9:25 p.m. Thursday after he entered an ex-girlfriend’s house, went into her kitchen and demanded to get a table back. Police said he had walked to her residence and entered an unlocked door. William T. Laughing, 30, of Iroquois Village, Rooseveltown, then reportedly refused to leave the residence when ordered to do so by Joan Hong. She told police the couple had not dated for approximately three years. Village police said Laughing eventually left the residence and was located when they responded to a complaint from a woman reporting an unknown man was walking back and forth at the end of her driveway on East Hatfield Street. Laughing was released on an appearance ticket.

SECOND-DEGREE GRAND LARCENY – William Roger Jock, 50, also known by his traditional Mohawk name Kaneretiio, is being held without bail in the Franklin County Jail, pending arraignment on a charge of second-degree grand larceny. The charge, a class C felony, means theft of property valued between $50,000 and $999,999. Jock was arrested by Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police Tuesday morning on a warrant issued by Franklin County Court Judge Robert G. Main, Jr. Franklin County District Attorney Derek Champagne declined comment on what specifically led to Jock’s arrest but said he would discuss the matter after Jock’s arraignment in Franklin County Court at 1 p.m. Friday.

BREAK & ENTER ARREST – Derek Perkins, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on the 6th of December 2011. It is alleged that shortly after 2:00 a.m. the 6th of December 2011 the male was located in a Churchill Avenue residence by police after the home owner heard noises. He was charged with break and enter with intent to commit indictable offence. He was held in custody until court the following day.

WARRANT – Matthew Thompson, 25 of Akwesasne was arrested on the 6th of December 2011 under the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on the 11th of November 2010, he attended the Canadian Border Service Agency and broke a barrier with a motor vehicle.  A warrant was sought and issued for mischief under $5000.00 and dangerous operation. He was held in custody until court later that day.

BREACH – Richard Sawatis, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on the 6th of December 2011. He was bound by an undertaking with the relevant conditions of no communication directly or indirectly with a certain female and keeping the peace and being of good behaviour. He was also bound by a probation order with the condition of keeping the peace and being of good behavior. It is alleged that on the 6th of December 2011, he contacted the said female by telephone. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with 2 counts of breach of undertaking and breach of probation order. He was released to appear in court on the 29th of December 2011.
