Casino to allow children in for dining

The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino announced this week that they are now allowing minors inside the facility during certain hours as part of their family dining plan.

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, guests under the age of 18 can visit the casino but will be required to stay on specially colored carpeting connecting three of the casino’s four dining areas - the Native Harvest Buffet, Rapids Food Court and Sticks Sports Bar. Due to alcohol sales at the Maple Room Steakhouse, minors will not be permitted there. However, the change in casino policy opens up several dining options for families in and around Akwesasne.

“We are more than happy to welcome families to come and taste our delicious food at the casino,” said Casino GM Patrick Bassney.

Guests under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a guest 21 years of age or older.

The designated carpeted walkways for the minors will be clearly marked and the underage guests will not be allowed to engage in any gaming.

The hours of operation for Family Dining will be daily from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The casino management is excited about the changes and looks forward to improving its relationship with families in the vicinity.

“This is the next step for the casino to become more family orientated and we look forward to providing a great dining experience for all guests, including minors,” said Bassney.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and features over 1600 Vegas style slot machines, 27 tables games and the Poker Room, located at the northeast corner of Cascades.
