Tsi Snaihne School celebrates Family Literacy Day

Tuesday, Jan . 27 was Family Literacy Day.  Tsi Snaihne School held a party in the gym to celebrate family literacy.  Parents, aunts, uncles and totas were invited to Tsi Snaihne School on Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. to enjoy some literacy-based games with their children in the gymnasium.

Events such as Jeopardy, Pictionary, Bingo and other board games were enjoyed by young and old.  Children were able to create words using playdough, race with sight words, climb the wall finding the Mohawk alphabet or play fun phonics-based computer games. They also had an opportunity to cuddle with a relative and read a favorite story. Approximately 54 families attended the event.  Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

Congratulations to the three door prize winners - Secora Oakes, Ashton Herne-McDonald and Alexis David. They each won a tote bag full of books, a board game and some fun literacy material the whole family can enjoy.  Thank you very much to the parents, aunts, uncles and totas in attendance who made the family literacy day celebration a success.
