Stolen deck boat recovered

On October 21st, in the early morning hours, a 2003 Princecraft deck boat with a 175 HP Mercury Optimax was stolen from Lewis Marine shop in Fort Covington. This deck boat belonged to Owen and Alison Benedict. It was in the shop undergoing repairs when someone hooked onto the boat, motor and trailer and drove away with it. Flyers were put up at various local businesses and radio broadcasts on local stations but to no avail. Friends and family members helped in the search for this boat. Unfortunately, on November 2nd, the boat was discovered burnt in Tsi Snaihne on the old dump road without the motor or trailer. The boat was positively identified by the owners. When questioned about their reaction, they said, “It’s disheartening to believe that an individual or group could do this to our family knowing everything that we have been going through with our son, Wyatt, and his ongoing battle with cancer. This boat was used for recreational purposes such as fishing, tubing, and waterskiing. Trying to explain all of this to our three young sons who have already learned the hard way that bad things sometimes happen to good people is not an easy task. We are still hoping to find our motor and trailer so this is not a complete loss. We are asking anyone with any information to contact us at 358-9858.”
