Community complaints being compiled against Canada Customs

AKWESASNE, ONTARIO The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is continuing to collect written statements from Akwesasne community members on issues, concerns and complaints involving the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) at the Kawehnoke (Cornwall Island) Port of Entry. Information that Akwesasne residents provide will support efforts to develop solutions and protocols for the safe and secure passage of all travelers through the border crossing.

To file a complaint against the CBSA, community members are asked to contact Russ Jock at the MCA Justice Department at (613) 575-2250 (extension 2405). An interview will be arranged for community members to provide information on the unfair treatment that they received at Canada Customs.

· Provide date, time, and lane of travel when incident occurred;

· Provide make, model and year of vehicle involved, including license plate number;

· Provide custom officers badge number; and

· Provide a summary of what happened and why you feel that you were mistreated.

For further information, please contact Russ Jock at the MCA Justice Department located in the Angus Mitchell Memorial Building in Kanatakon, or call (613) 575-2250 (extension 2405).
