PROHIBITED WEAPONS

On Saturday, February 2nd 2008, at 10:22 pm the Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded to Canada Customs Port of Entry Cornwall and was advised that a male subject had been found to be carrying a Prohibited Weapon. The male subject was also found to be on a Prohibition Order for Weapons. Tyler Angus Gray from Akwesasne, New York was subsequently arrested and charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Prohibited Weapon in Motor Vehicle, Breach of Probation and Possession of a Weapon contrary to Prohibition Order. The male was released on a Recognizance entered before an Officer in Charge with a monetary deposit.

IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

On Monday February 4th, 2008, at 1:26 am the Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded to Canada Customs Port of Entry in regards to an impaired driver. Emile J. Burton of Cornwall, Ontario was issued a 12 hour suspension under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and released.

WARRANT EXECUTED

On Wednesday February 6th, 2008 at 4:53 pm, a patrol officer driving on Island Road observed one lone male occupant of a Grey mini-van traveling westbound. The officer identified the driver to be Paul Henry Skanenrate Buckshot of Akwesasne, Ontario and that 35 year old Buckshot had several arrest warrants. Another passenger was identified in the vehicle as 32 year old Ryan Adam Buckshot of Akwesasne, Ontario who was known to Mohawk Police to be Wanted on a Warrant. Both subjects were arrested on the strength of the Warrants and transported to Cornwall Community Police Service.

BREACH OF PROBATION

On Sunday February 10th, 2008 at 5:48 am the Akwesasne Mohawk Police were called to a residence on Kawenoke Apartment Road of an unwanted male. Mohawk Police attended the residence and was advised that the male, who was identified as Shawn Michael Leaf of Akwesasne, Ontario, had fled prior to Police arrival. Leaf was located in the near vicinity of the residence. Leaf was arrested for Breach of Probation and held for a Bail Hearing the following day.

PROHIBITED WEAPONS

On Sunday February 10th, 2008 at 7:40 pm, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police responded to Canada Customs Port of Entry in regards to an individual carrying a Prohibited Weapon. Justin Daniel Mitchell of Akwesasne, Ontario was arrested for Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and released on a Promise to Appear for court date of March 3rd, 2008 at the Cornwall Provincial Court.

IMPAIRED OPERATION

On Monday February 11th, 2008 at 12:39 am, Akwesasne Mohawk Police observed a Ford pickup truck driving erratically on International Road in Akwesasne, Ontario. The Mohawk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on the truck and observed the driver to be intoxicated. The driver was identified as Jaade R. Oakes of Akwesasne, New York and conducted a roadside screening test. The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and was taken to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Sub Station at Cornwall Island to have a Breath Test conducted. Oakes was further charged with Impaired Operation over 80 mgs and was released on a Promise to Appear for a court date of March 3rd, 2008 at Cornwall Provincial Court.

CONTRABAND CIGARETTES

On Friday February 15th, at 3:16 am, Akwesasne Mohawk Police were called to a residence about a suspicious vehicle. A Choice Taxi was found to be in the driveway and after a vehicle search was conducted, Police found five cases of contraband cigarettes. Steven Michael Hopps, 35, of Akwesasne, Ontario was arrested under the Excise Act and turned over to the RCMP.

DRUG POSSESSION – State police charged an Akwesasne man with unlawful possession of marijuana Sunday. Following a traffic stop in the town of Westville, police discovered three grams of marijuana in the possession of CHRISTOPHER LAZORE, 21 of Wade LaFrance Road, Akwesasne, QC. Lazore was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Westville court.

IMPAIRED DRIVING – State police charged 23-year-old TRAVIS R. ADAMS of Jones St. Hogansburg with unlicensed operation and driving while impaired by drugs. Police said Adams was found to be under the influence of marijuana following a traffic stop in the town of Westville. He was issued a ticket to appear in court on March 4.
