    It was bitter cold outside but the Lady Shamrocks were hot as Kwiio King finished a play set up by Emily Tremblay fifteen minutes into the first half. It looked promising for the Shamrocks until Canton answered back with two goals to finish the first half.     The Red Raider football team came out fast and furious on the Mike Nicholas field last Friday night to score early and lead, 20-0, at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders sent the Canton Golden Bears home with a 48-14 loss in the last game of the regular NAC football season.     “Droppin’ the Gloves on Cancer” is the only women’s and now co-ed hockey tournament in the North Country, and has raised nearly $33,000 over its four year history through sponsorships, team fees, raffles, survivor rides, and “Pink Seats.” All tournament proceeds benefit women’s cancer awareness and support at Massena Memorial and Canton-Potsdam Hospital.     The Akwesasne Wild Co-ed Hockey team took the Championship in the Droppin’ the Gloves on Cancer Tournament held at Clarkson this past weekend. The Wild was put together by the efforts of Denise Thompson, Diane Lazore and Leighann McDonald. With players from Akwesasne and a couple from Kahnawake and Cornwall they threw a team together looking to have fun for a good cause and surprisingly went undefeated in the tournament.
