Baseball, softball and lacrosse athletes from Massena and Salmon River recently received Northern Athletic Conference honors. In boys lacrosse, Massena’s Kendrick Angus, Tyler Armstrong and Andrew Bender made All-NAC First Team. After 49 hours, many flight delays and uncertainty of whether or not the Canadian Men's JR Greco Roman wrestling team would even make it to The Pan-American Games this past weekend in Venezuela, they made it just in time for Nolan Terrance to win an impressive 8-0 victory over Venezuela to take the Gold medal and become the new 120k Pan American champion. Last weekend's games were played in the wind and cold as the temperatures dropped. The Annual Akwesasne Freedom School tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Buck White's field on St. Regis Road. If the tournament is over by Saturday the games on Sunday (June 19th) will go ahead as scheduled. If the tournament runs into Sunday those games will be rescheduled....

Two from Massena and one from Salmon River were among the top Section 10 golfers who competed in the NYSPHSAA championship June 6 at Cornell University’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, Ithaca. Golfers from the two schools also received Northern Athletic Conference honors. Massena’s Terrell Thomas carded 87 opening score and 99 in round two for a combined 166 strokes. Graduation season isn't just for the High School kids. Last week parents and grandparents were rewarded for their hard work at returning to the classroom.
