    A group of individuals concerned with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s system of government held an election Saturday to put five individuals into positions that would help address that issue as well as any others the community has concerns over.     A crowd of 50 people quickly gathered at the Canada Customs building on Kawehno:ke (Cornwall Island) Wednesday afternoon after a Mohawk man was pulled over for carrying lacrosse sticks across the border in his car and failing to declare them.     Students in grades two and three had an audience all to themselves Tuesday morning for the annual spring concert. Due to space constraints in the school’s gym, the annual spring concerts have been split into three days, instead of two as had been done for years.     Two weeks ago Peter J. Herne of Akwesasne was appointed as the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe’s first tribal court judge.     Akwesasne, Ontario - On May 23rd, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., an officer from the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service stopped a 2001 Pontiac on Island Road East in Akwesasne, Ontario as part of an investigation under authority of the Indian Act.
