  • Contractor to Conduct Flyover of Akwesasne

    Akwesasne Territory - An independent contractor will be making an aerial flyover on Thursday June 2 or Friday June 3 of this week, depending on the weather. They will be in a fixed wing aircraft flying at about 1500 feet and will fly over at around 12:00 noon. The purpose of the flyover is to photograph trees and vegetation as part of a forest inventory and cover type assessment.     After a crazy few months I was finally able to get rid of my stress induced writer’s block. There have been a few big changes in the lives of the brothers. Big Brother has mastered reading and now has the ability to sit down with a book and read to himself. I was so excited about this because as a very avid reader I love getting time in to sit down and read a chapter in a new book. I say chapter because that is a small little goal I can reach in the house of boys. Now Big Brother can snuggle up with a book and his mom and we can read together....

    On Tuesday, May 24th, Massena hosted the opening round of Class C playoffs against Ogdensburg. The Raiders led 9-1 at halftime and continued on to win 17-3. The Raiders were led by Grayson Phillips-Cole with three goals and three assists. Freshman Rhodes Tarbell and senior Jimmy Pierce also contributed hat tricks.     The Lady Raiders took top honors over Ogdensburg (203.5-109.5) and Madrid Waddington (185-132) on Monday, May 23rd. Senior Courtney White set a new Section 10 record in the discus by more than six feet with a toss of 132’5.5”. She also won the shot put at 34’10”.     Friday, May 20th, the Massena Red Raiders boy’s lacrosse team closed out their regular NAC season with a win over the Heuvelton Bulldogs, 22-7. Before the game four seniors, Randy Seymour, Jimmy Pierce, J.P. Prashaw and Nick Moffitt, were honored for their hard work and dedication to the team.
