SRMT Early Childhood Development Program takes kids trick or treating

Hayrides donated to transport kids to Tribal Admin buildings

Enjoying a good Halloween Themed book to get the kids into the spirit of the day before the big hayride.

The annual Halloween party was held last Friday Oct. 28 at the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Early Childhood Development Program. Running Deer Construction donated the use of their float and Junior David donated another wagon to provide all of the children with a hay ride to the Tribal facilities. The children dressed up in a range of costumes like Woody from Toy Story, unicorns, Ironman, Captain America and witches galore.

Tribal Police Officer rescued the hat that was blown off one of the wagon riders- he tried to keep it warm for them.

A Tribal Police escort ensured the safety of the traveling group as they made the rounds of the Tribe’s main administration building, Indian Health Services Clinic and Family Support. Some of the children were even accompanied by their parents who stayed to participate in the event. In between trips the waiting classes passed the time reading books about Halloween.

“I was called by someone who asked if I would be able to help and I told them I was ready,” said David who braved the chilly fall weather to make three trips with the different classes. “They never had anything like this when I was a kid so it is great to do this for them.”
