AKWESASNE- Charles J. Kader, But known to the world as Chaz, passed away on March 23rd 2023 at Samaritan hospital in Watertown, NY after a brief illness.

Charles was born October 19th, 1969, to the late Annabelle Evans Kader of Erie and the late Charles E Kader of St. James City FL. He was preceded in his death by his wife Jennifer in November of 2022. He is survived by his brother Andy, 48 of Kahnawake Kanienkehaka Territory; his two nieces, Orenda, 22 and Kahiona ,20; and a nephew Tiohren, 16 all of Litchfield County, Connecticut.

Charles was an alumni of Saint Andrew's class of 1983, and Strong Vincent high school class of 1987. In 1989, Chaz enlisted in the army as an infantryman and received his basic training at Fort Benning, GA. He was stationed permanently at Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii. Upon completion of his army duties Chaz enrolled at Clarion University of Clarion, PA where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in communications. During his early internships he interned at Akwesasne Notes as well as the Eastern Door newspapers. Chaz was also very proud of his time at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. and the lifelong friends he made while in the RIAP(Research Intelligence Analysts Program) another change saw Chaz obtain, a Masters in library science from Clarion university in 1997 as well as a masters in Administration of Justice in 2000 From Mercyhurst University of Erie, PA.

Chaz was a librarian at the Blackfoot Community College in Browning Mt. Millersville University in Millersville, PA, a prison librarian at Cambridge Springs, PA Correctional facility, Suny Canton, as well as for Johnson Newspaper Corp in 2022.

In 2005 Chaz left Pennsylvania for the North Country where he would call home the last 18 years of his life. Chaz was employed by the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino as safety inspector. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe and in the communications department. He was integral in helping to start up the Mohawk Chamber of Commerce at Akwesasne 2007 through 2008. He was an administrator for the Akwesasne Convenience Store Association. Chaz had many freelance works for businesses and individuals throughout the Indian Country, that involved research, writing projects, proofreading, helping to create bylaws, taking meeting notes, setting rules of order. Chaz was often asked as a to be a moderator at many social and political events in and around Akwesasne as well as a ghostwriter for many Op eds and letters to the editor.

It was his love for the printed word where Chaz's' true brightness shone. A master researcher his communication style was impeccable. Chaz had quite a lot of followers and fans of his writing that made it internationally by the articles he wrote for Indian Country Today, Lakota Times, and articles that got published by CBC, APTN, as well as a few stories that got picked up by AP wire...One of Chaz's early writings made it in USA today as a question, answered by Boxing analyst Jon Saraceno.

Chaz used his communication skills to write many press releases, for Kanienkehaka Kaienerakowa, Kanonesne as well as Onkwehonweneha Kanonhsesne....Indian Way Longhouse.

It was within the past 2 to 4 years that Chaz was becoming an up and comer in paranormal field where he was asked to be a guest on many paranormal podcasts and radio shows for his specialty was the cryptid lore of PA, and NY with a specialty in paranormal events that occurred in North Country. He was in the process of starting his own podcast on the paranormal which his brother Andy is going to take up in his honor.

Always known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, he made friends on both ends and sides of the aisle and table where he was often seen in some kind of debate at the Twin Leaf or Bears Den restaurants with his other "brother" Kanerahtiio. Chaz loved Star Wars, Star trek, Hell Raiser movies, boxing, the Las Vegas Raiders, Planet of the Apes, Aliens, Halloween, and Predator. He was known for his eclectic taste in music from, punk to Mozart, to Paul McCartney and George Jones. He read anything and everything...lastly he truly loved his orange furry feline Chester.
