Our grade 7/8 team traveled to Maryland July 13 & 14 to participate in a USLACROSSE sanctioned tournament called The Crabcake. It was hosted by NXT Events. The games were in Calvert Park. It took months of preparation. Attending a mid-Atlantic tournament seemed out of reach since only the top competition attend. The director had extended an invitation when she discovered us on Instagram. Our girls were honored to be included. They trained hard and practiced together more often in the heat during the two weeks leading up to the games. They were prepared. The hard work and long journey was worth it, as it was a success. Congratulations to Akwesasne Ride 7/8 on the championship. Coach John Lazore and his assistants are all volunteer parents. Jacelyn Lazore is a college bound student preparing for the World Cup. She included the Ride girls in her own workouts to be game ready.
