Niawen:kowa/Thank you to the volunteers

Niawen:kowa/Thank you to the volunteers who spend numerous hours making the lives of our folks living in LTC more enjoyable!

Pastoral Care: Fr. Jerome Pastores, St. Regis Parish, and Sister Mary Christine who bring Holy Mass (monthly) and Holy Communion (weekly) to residents.

Urgent need for volunteers from other religions to meet the needs of Residents.

Entertainers: Lucien Lalonde, Dick Hamill and Ross Blakely for playing guitar, fiddle and singing Residents ol’ time favorites every Monday morning (at no charge). More volunteers needed to promote Resident well-being through music. No talent? No problem. Sitting with an individual for 30 minutes while listening to an ipod of music makes a huge difference. Note: Professional musicians and entertainers charge for their services at $50 per individual.

Roy’s Florists: for donating corsages to Residents on their birthdays every month.

Tuck Shop volunteers: Helen Robertson (resident manager) and Judy Ruest (family member/shopper) for keeping the Tuck Shop open and stocked with items to meet Resident needs.

Donations are just as valuable as volunteers to staff and residents at Tsiionkwanonhso:te and in an effort to make this more home-like environment for residents, activity staff planned a “Tea for Two” activity with the goal of encouraging individuals to share stories while sipping tea and reminiscing. As a result, a donation of tea cups and saucers arrived courtesy of Emily Tarbell of the Senior Center.

The tea cups/saucers were a big hit! And initiated just as much conversation from the participants. Thank you Emily!
