MCA – Tehotiiennawakon Department A'nowara'ko:wa Arena Summer Wellness, Fitness & Sport Program July – August 2015

The Tehotiiennawakon department would like to welcome the following summer employees; Kahonwine Adams-Coordinator, Adam Oakes & Kyla Thompson - Playground Leaders, who will be running the Arena Wellness, Fitness & Sport program for kids ages 5-10 years old, Monday to Thursday 1:00-5:00pm, and will cover how to stay physically, mentally and emotionally fit while having fun at the same time. The Wellness, Fitness & Sport Program registration for kids is now full and is ready to start Monday, July 13th at 1:00pm.

All summer employees are certified in the Principles of Healthy Child Development, which taught them how to enhance the quality of the activities they are delivering. The workshop provided in-depth knowledge of the High Five principles of healthy child development so front-line leaders understand what they need to do to ensure each childs’ social, emotional and cognitive needs are met.

They are scheduled and will be attending workshops on first aid, CPR, Health & Safety, Zip Lining, High Five Practical Practices and Coaching Sports. They will also be running extra curricular activities at 6:00pm each night, including women’s field lacrosse, coed volleyball league, arm wrestling, rugby, & kids soccer.

For more information please do not hesitate to contact Kahonwine, Adam or Kyla about the summer activities here at the arena 613-936-1583 or arena@akwesasne.ca

On behalf of the students, I like to thank Akwesasne Area Managements, MCA – INAC and the Tehotiiennawakon Department for giving students an employee experience to grow their skills and have a memorable time working with kids and the Akwesasne community.
