Description of Position: Under the general direction of the Saint Regis Mohawk Social Services Division, is responsible to assist the SSD Attorney by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Degree with Paralegal certification and three years relevant experience. Familiarity with the basic principles of Federal Indian law including such topics as tribal sovereignty and jurisdiction, and the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Experience with program or operations in the Social Services fields. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all court and/or Tribal Child Support Enforcement Unit case files. FLEET POLICY: Must be at least 21 years of age, have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.


ELIGIBILITY LIST: A list of qualified candidates is created from interviews that may be used to appoint individuals to similar positions within the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe for a period of six months.
