The Massena Red Raider boys lacrosse team took the Section 10 Class A title on Wednesday, May 28 while the girls squad was shut down in the first round of state playoffs.

The boys contingent claimed a 15-5 victory over the Potsdam Sandstoners at SUNY Canton.

They grabbed a lead early in the first quarter and refused to let it go through the remainder of regulation.

Nick Henrie, who was one of the team's top-scorers that day, recorded his three goals and six assists in the opening 12 minutes.

Sako Rourke headed the Raider charge with four goals and an assist. Evan Kassian tallied two goals and two assists. Ryan Thomas, Kendrick Angus, Ross Driscoll and Patrick LaGrow all notched a goal and an assist.

Troy Benedict and Tyler Armstrong split netminding duty, combining for 11 saves.

For the Sandstoners, Sam Woods scored a hat trick. Max Warden scored a pair of markers. Keenan O'Gorman and Josh Sanchex each tallied a pair of helpers. Chase Palmer recorded 11 saves.

They advance to take on Jamesville-Dewitt in the state playoffs.

The Lady Raiders took a 20-4 loss against Christian Brothers Academy.

Jacelyn Lazore notched three of Massena's goals, with Shannon Casey picking up the fourth. Felicity Love made 11 saves.

Lazore and Casey were each named All-Northern Athletic Conference First Team MVPs. Their teammates Mimi Lazore and Courtney Manley also received the honor.

Madalyn Dillabough was named to the Second Team, along with Kyrsten Stone. Nicole Morgan made the Outstanding Sportsmanship Team. Massena players making the All-Academic Team included Alanna Pyke, Nicole Canales, Shannon Casey, Raechel Davis, Madalyn Dillabough, Ellen Greene, Mia Jermano, Devin Kelly, Abby LaClair, Felicity Love, Courtney Manley, Nicole Morgan, Lucy Pang, Sophia Rusaw and Emily Wilmshurt.
