On Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5, the SRC and NF basketball program hosted a youth tournament at Salmon River Central School. Twenty-three boys and girls teams ranging from 5th – 12th grade participated in the two-day event with some great action, great young skills and a whole lot of fun.

Local home teams were the NC Panthers, 7/8th grade AAU team coached by Matt Mitchell, NF Shamrocks 5/6th boys coached by Dan Martin and Pat Ghostlaw, Salmon 12U boys, and the Chargers 12U girls, both coached by Tommy Smith.

By the end of the two days, a champion was crowned in each division. In the 5/6th grade division, held in the arena gym, Malone beat out Brushton-Moira 2 by a score of 54-8.

For the girls, Northern Adirondack (NAC) outlasted Massena in OT for a 27-25 win.

In the 7/8 division, the St. Regis Falls team beat Brasher Falls to win the boys side 47-32 and Massena, with their deep bench, overcame a 2 point halftime deficit to upend home team NC Panthers 28-21.

In the 12U division, powerhouse Malone AAU beat the home team SR Shamrocks after Salmon upended Massena (The Hamelin Experiment) in the semis, by a score of 57-36.

For the girl's 12U, Salmons' Chargers squad beat Malone in the championship game 51-28.

Special thanks to SRC to allow us to host, Tarbell Management Group for donating from Papa Johns Pizza and Tim Hortons Coffee, and to the coordinators Pete Ghostlaw, Dan Mainville, and Tommy Smith, a big thank you for your efforts.

Without any of their support and dedication to NF youth sports, none of this would have been possible.
