ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM FULL -TIME TERM POSITION (MARCH 2016) DEPARTMENT OF TEHOTIIENNAWAKON

 


Annual Salary: SP 08 $44,451.32 -$46,229.37

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wildlife Technician will be responsible for working independently and/or with a team of other wildlife and environmental professionals in information gathering, wildlife monitoring and habitat protection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s Degree in Wildlife Biology, Wildlife Technology, Wildlife Management or Agriculture or minimum of three (3) years University in Wildlife Biology or a related field and one (1) year of experience performing wildlife management support activities. Must be able to identify species found in and around Akwesasne, including Species at Risk.

Must be able to collect Traditional Ecological Knowledge of the community of Akwesasne. Must be familiar with or proficient in the following computer programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint). Ability to speak/converse/read the Mohawk language an asset (or willingness to learn). Good teamwork and communication skills. Small craft operator certification considered an asset.
