National Honor Society Inductions and Massena Academic Achievement Banquet Awards

 

Five Ahkwesahsne senior students were honored and received their graduation chords along with one Junior and were all inducted into the National Honor Society on May 9th at the Massena Central School. The students are Jeff Cooke, Wahehson Lazore, Tyler Sunday, Kiowere Rourke, Erin Francis and Jr. Inductee Hunter Francis.  

On May 16th, the Academic Banquet was also held and the students were recognized for their academic achievements for maintaining a 92% and above for all semesters.

Congratulations goes to Tyler Sunday (class of 2013), Hunter Francis (class of 2014), Alanna Pyke (class of 2015) and Kendrick Swamp (class of 2015).

They received their academic pins while Tyler Sunday got an additional and special award for qualifying for all 4 years.  Tyler also finished fifth in his graduating class.

Alanna Pyke was also recognized for earning 100% on her Geometry Regents exams. Great job!


Recently, Potsdam Rotary presented Tyler the Student of the Month certificate with a plaque and a monetary award. A luncheon was shared with guests and Tyler’s family who expressed the surprise as well as appreciation to the gesture by the Rotary Club. The Rotarians applauded Tyler for his hard work, professionalism and his maturity.  They also expressed how he is a quiet role model to his peers and always a complete gentleman.  His parents, Shannon and Tyler are so proud of him and especially after hearing all the compliments about Tyler from other parents and guests.

Tyler Sunday - Allied Health, is hereby recognized by the Rotary Club for extraordinary achievement in training for a career.  The Rotary Club recognizes the importance of vocational training and encourages students to pursue service opportunities in their future occupations. Rotary firmly believes that “the future of occupational education is the future of America.”


I trust that you will each look at all approaching days as continued learning experiences.  Always remember the most important ingredient for achieving true success is integrity.

Congratulations to you for the fine job you have all accomplished throughout your many years of school.  Your hard work and dedication has proven that you are now ready for the next phase of your life as a graduate.  Onward you go as you search for the college and university that you desire and to fulfill the interests in your program of choice.  The years have flown by for us and it is so satisfying to think back a few years ago when some of you shared your dreams with me.  Please know that I’m so happy for you as I wish you all the joys and success in your years to come.
