4-H Mighty Shamrocks Presents "You Got Talent!"

By Connie Gerow, 4-H Tribal Mentoring Coordinator

Can you sing, dance or play an instrument? Or, do you have some kind of special talent that you would like to share?

The 4-H Mighty Shamrocks Tribal Mentoring program will be hosting a “You Got Talent” show on Wednesday, June 12th at 7pm in Salmon River Central Auditorium. This event is open to any student at Salmon River who is in 5th through 12th grade and is in good standing. Official entry forms are available in the High School and Middle School Guidance Offices. An extended date of June 3rd has been established to accept additional entries for the You Got Talent show.

The guidelines for the You Got Talent show includes the following information: your name, age and grade, and completed entries must include a short description of your act and be signed by a parent; the recommended minimum length of your talent act should be three minutes but not any longer than five minutes; each act is responsible for own props and costumes and must be “family” appropriate; 4-H/School representatives have the right to refuse any act and/or music that is deemed unacceptable; families and friends are encouraged to come and cheer you on as there will be a “People’s Choice Award”.

All You Got Talent acts will have an opportunity to participate in planned rehearsals that have been set for the following dates and times: Tuesday, June 4th from 2:30pm-5:30 pm; Wednesday, June 5th from 2:30pm – 5pm; Friday, June 7th 6pm to 8pm; Monday, June 10th 6pm-8pm and Tuesday, June 11th from 2:30pm -5:30pm. Although attendance to all rehearsals are not mandatory, it is strongly suggested that acts attend at least three of the suggested times.

In addition, plans are underway to bring in a few extra “class acts.” Special outside talent groups have been invited and will feature young and older adults who have won awards by virtue of their gift.

The 4-H Mighty Shamrocks You Got Talent Show has been designed as a “show-case” event and to encourage youth to express their hidden talent. The 4-H Mighty Shamrocks are hosting this event as a year-end celebration as a Family Night Outing for all to enjoy.
