Watermelon Crawl at Iakhihsohtha

Submitted by Maureen Benedict

Iakhihsohtha was the place to be during our recent Diner’s Club Luncheon held on January 30. We had an indoor picnic with all the fixings, and the Glazier’s hotdogs were so delicious. We all ate until our bellies were busting at the seams.

During the intermission of our afternoon of entertainment, we had our very own “Watermelon Crawl.” We had ten brave contestants: Dave Oakes, Cynthia Cree, Kateri Lazore, Lilly Benedict, Janice Sharrow, Dale Bintz, Jackie Mitchell, Lorraine Thompson and a young man.

Our watermelon crawl consisted of the contestants bobbing for watermelon. The watermelons were tied on strings that were hung on the archways of the dining room. The object of the game was for the contestants to try to eat the watermelon without using their hands. We had such an awesome time watching everyone do the “Watermelon Crawl.”
