Attention Fishermen LOOKING FOR THE COLLECTION OF WALLEYE FISH SAMPLES

Department of Tehotiienawa:kon: Environment

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Department of Tehotiienawa:kon: Environment is continuing on building its partnership with the St. Lawrence River Institute Cornwall, Ontario in cooperation with the Ontario Power Generation. Over the next few months Tehotiienawa:kon: Environment will be collecting walleye fish samples from local fishermen. This study will look at PCB and mercury levels in walleye, which is a fish that is commonly angled for in Akwesasne. By determining contaminant levels of these fish in the St. Lawrence River there is hopes of determining a sub-species of walleye that is safer for consumption.

[Participants will receive $25 per 3 whole fish samples]

or

[$25 per 6 filleted fish (will take head, guts, bones and fins)]
