Gearing up for Friendship Days this weekend

The Ronathahon:ni - Hotinonhson:ni cultural youth summer theater arts and dance program are introducing their staff and group to the community.  Staff members are Summer Program Director Fallan Davis, Program Manager & Ohen:ton Karihwahtekhwen Instructor Tameka Thompson,  Assistant Program Manager & Smoke Dance Instructor Frank Phillips, and Ronathahon:ni Technical Service & Hotinonhson:ni Songs & Dance Instructor Josh Sargent. Also helping during this summer program are Singing Instructor Bear Fox, Aboriginal Experiences Theater Arts & Choreographers Rhonda Doxtator, Erin Alesage and Jason Mullins, Theater Arts Assistants Morgan White-Cree and Honni David.  

Our experienced and professional staff all worked hard to organize a safe, happy and fulfilling environment for the youth in this cultural theater arts and dance program.  They all specialized in something that pertains to the cultural performance development of our youth.  


Our 2011 summer youth group consists of tiny tots Chanel Thompson, Jayla Thompson, Gavin Jacobs, Louie Francis-Thompson, Mackenzie Benedict, Rylan Adams, Kawisenhawi Sharrow, Nolie Thompson and Meadow Cook.  

Ages 9-over include Hunter Cook, Cuppa Thompson, James Cook, Jacob Cook, Karontawakon Roundpoint, Taylor Swamp and Jade Benedict.

The senior group includes Karlee Thompson, Fawn Jacobs, Taylene Hall, Tatum Lafrance, Bailey Thomas, Kyla Thompson, and Tianna Back.

The Hotinonhson:ni cultural youth summer theater arts and dance program participants express their sincere appreciation to the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne community fund and Ronathahon:ni staff for making this program a reality. Participants are learning many new skills including how to perform on stage while having a great time.


The Hotinonhson:ni cultural youth group will be performing August 13th at the Friendship days on Ronathahon:ni’s stage at 12:00pm. Participants invite everyone in the community to come out and watch them perform some of the most beautiful Hotinonhson:ni and Native stories and dances.
