SECOND DEGREE FORGERY – An Akwesasne woman was arrested Tuesday, July 12 at the Massena Port of Entry when she allegedly forged a customs declaration. According to a New York State Police news release, Sunnie R. Francis, 19, was charged with second-degree forgery, possessing a forged instrument and offering to file a false instrument — all felonies. Police said Francis allegedly attempted to cross into the country from Canada and offered a false identification to the customs agent and wrote the fake date of birth on a customs declaration from the fake ID. She was arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and paid the $1,500 bail.

RECKLESS DRIVING – Massena village police charged Tiera M. Lafrance, 18, of 881 River Road, Akwesasne, and Joshua A. Sawyer, 22, of 15 Grove St., Massena, with reckless driving following a traffic stop at 4:42 p.m. Thursday, July 14 on East Orvis Street.


DISORDERLY CONDUCT – Massena village police charged Michael T. Neff, 20, of Akwesasne with disorderly conduct following an incident at 6 a.m. Sunday, July 17 on West Orvis Street. Police said they responded to a complaint that a man appeared to be passed out on West Orvis Street near the Quality Inn. They said they were unable to wake the man, who reportedly had blood coming from behind his ear. They said they called Massena Rescue for assistance, and rescue workers were able to get Neff to respond. He then reportedly stood up, starting shouting at the rescue squad staff and was combative while he was being treated for his injuries. Police said Neff appeared to be heavily intoxicated.

RESISTING ARREST, FLEEING AN OFFICER, AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, RECKLESS DRIVING – Police say a Hogansburg man led them on a high-speed chase, refusing to stop even after he crashed his car. Malone-based State Police were patrolling Route 11 in Malone on Monday, July 18 when they attempted to stop Mitchell David for speeding and having tinted windows on his car. But, police said, David refused to pull over and instead led them on a five-mile chase before he lost control of his car and crashed into a guardrail. After the wreck, authorities said, David took off on foot but was caught a short time later. He was arrested on misdemeanour charges of resisting arrest, third-degree fleeing an officer, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and reckless driving. David, 20, was also cited with nearly a dozen traffic infractions, including unsafe turn and failure to use designated lane.

BREACH OF UNDERTAKING – Ronald Paul Boots, 55, of Akwesasne was arrested on July 21, 2011 for breaching his conditions. He was bound by an Undertaking Order with conditions to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour and to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol. On the offence date, police attended the area of York Street in response to an intoxicated male. The male was located and investigation revealed that he was breaching his conditions. He was charged accordingly and he is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charges.
