Fishermen compete in Tackle Box’s Fall Classic

 

Tom and Chubby Oakes, along with son Chad, presented Don Meissner with a lacrosse stick at the fishing tournament.

This weekend fishermen from around Akwesasne competed in the Tackle Box’s Fall Classic Fishing Tournament.

First place went to Norman King whose fish weighed in at 27.612 pounds.  Second place was won by William Clute who weighed in fish totaling 25.287 pounds. Third place went to Adam Delormier who weighed in 25.187 pounds of fish.  Lunker of the Day went to Nolan Thompson with a 7lbs. 3oz. bass.    

The tournament helped raise money for the Akwesasne Mohawks lacrosse team. Tickets were sold for a Christmas tree being raffled.

Don Meissner, host of the “Fishing with Don” show, made a special appearance at the tournament. Tackle Box owners Tom and Chubby Oakes and their son Chad (Akwesasne Mohawks lacrosse team player) presented Meissner with a lacrosse stick, which he was honored to receive.

The organizers thank all those who participated and volunteered.
