Akwesasne: Lori M. Gray, 52, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 while surrounded by her family and loved ones in her home on Mary Road. After a long battle with cancer, Lori is now able to rest peacefully.

Lori was born December 16, 1970 in Massena, the daughter of Abram Gray Sr. and Gertrude Adams. Lori attended and graduated from Salmon River Central School. She worked at CKON as a Radio Announcer, also Snye and Mohawk Schools as a cooking assistant and later attended Carroll Center for the Blind in Boston.

Lori liked watching lacrosse, played in various pool leagues and even coached the Soaring Eagles Volleyball team. Lori loved listening to music, as it was her medicine. Lori had a passion for life, even after losing her vision and becoming disabled. Her spirit never dampened. She liked to make people laugh and loved giving thoughtful gifts to family and friends. Lori also enjoyed crafting and sewing.

Lori is survived by her children, Mindy (Jeremy) Thompson, Tina Marie Square, Brandy Michelle Square and Jack Meadow Square all of Akwesasne; 7 grandchildren, Klay and Kory Thompson, Rarontahra'raks and Ienenhaienthos Snyder, Nihawenna'a "Hush", Nyrah, Ionthahineh Fox; her father, Abram Gray Sr. of Akwesasne; three sisters, Leona (Terry) Francis, Lisa Gray and Virginia "Ginger" Gray; three brothers, Phillip Gray, Mike (Ann Marie) Gray and Norman Gray as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude and two brothers, Abram Gray Jr. and John Gray.

Friends and family called on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 until Thursday at The Akwesasne Homemakers in Snye. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 pm at Akwesasne Homemakers with burial to follow in Kateri Cemetery.
