A Voice from the Eastern Door

Kawehnoke - Roger L. "Tekanonwané:ken" Thompson, 69, of 23 Island Road, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the Ottawa General Hospital.

Roger was born on January 5, 1954 in Cornwall, son of the late James and Esther (Benedict) Thompson. He attended local schools and earned his certificates in Welding/Operating, Electronic and Digital Engineering, and General Machining from St. Lawrence College, his Construction Engineering degree from Algonquin College, and his Horticulture degree from the University of Guelph, Kemptville Campus. He married Margaret "Peggy" Pyke on December 14, 1990 in Cornwall, Ontario.

He loved playing music and guitar, and enjoyed fishing, boating, recreational vehicle use, gardening, nature watching, metal detecting, environmental issues and antique cars and trucks. He was a mechanic and a jack-of-all trades, with many projects on the go and small engines to repair. He could fabricate and build almost anything, whether it be go-carts, boats or automobiles. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter. He was eagerly looking forward to new expansions to his family.
