Blaze Destroys Building in Hogansburg

A structure fire broke out in Akwesasne, on State Route 37, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on

The fire entirely consumed the sugar shack.

Thursday, March 30th. The light from the flames and the smoke could be seen from Cook Road

as Indian Time was traveling to the scene. The Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department (HAVFD) responded immediately.

The HAVFD has been exceptionally busy in recent days, as they are actively participating in an ongoing search in the Tsi Snaihne area, but they were on top of the situation quickly.

The firefighters demonstrated their professionalism and efficiency, working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties. Their quick response and

coordinated efforts were crucial in mitigating the damage caused by the fire.
