Friends of the Ogdensburg Library Welcome Author Barbara Briggs Ward

 


The Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library invite the public to the Ogdensburg Public Library during our 100th Anniversary Celebration Week (October 15-21). We are excited to announce that local author, Barbara Briggs Ward will be visiting the library on two separate occasions.

On Wednesday, Oct 19th from 4 pm to 7 pm she will be hosting a book signing of her new book, “Velvet Snowflakes”. The cover was illustrated by local artist, John Morrow. Stop by and talk to

Barb about her new book! On Thursday, October 20th at 11 am she will be reading her book “Snarly Sally” at Story Hour in the Children’s Library.

Barbara Briggs Ward is a writer living in Ogdensburg, New York. Her short story “The Kitchens” was third runner-up in The Saturday Evening Post’s 2021 Great American Fiction Contest. She is the author of a beloved Christmas trilogy for adults featuring The Reindeer Keeper, (chosen by Yahoo!’s Christmas Book Club as their December 2012 Book of the Month), The Snowman Maker and The Candle Giver. Other works of fiction include The Tin Cookie Cutter and A Robin’s Snow. Her short stories have appeared in three Chicken Soup for the Soul books and


Highlights for Children. Her essay centered around her grandmother was one of eight essays selected to appear in Ladies Home Journal, July 1976, highlighting women who represent the

“Real Beauties of America.” Barbara’s feature on Boldt Castle was published in McCall’s. She has been a featured author on Mountain Lake PBS and Target Book Festivals in Boston and New York. For more, visit barbarabriggsward.com.

John Morrow’s work has been shown in hundreds of shows and exhibitions and used on the cover of several book and magazines including the cover of Reader’s Digest. John and his wife Brenda continue to live in the St. Lawrence Valley that is rich in history and artistic subject matter.

Ogdensburg is very lucky to have two such talented artists in our community. Stop by and talk to Barbara about her work and her passions.
