Powwow Committee extends their sincere appreciation

After a two-year hiatus, because of the circumstances beyond our control, the Akwesasne Powwow Committee was proud to host our Annual Cultural Celebration, the 20th Annual Akwesasne Powwow.

The Powwow Committee was diligent in our attempts to continue to bring together the finest Dancers, Drummers, Artisans and Cooks from across Turtle Island. This prestigious event brings together our brother and sister communities, as well as our invited guests regardless of race, creed, or color, and has special significance on the heels of the Residential School Abuse issues and all the babies that perished at these horrendous facilities and who did not make it home. We must never forget.

The Powwow Committee extends our sincere appreciation to our Sponsors and supporters~ St. Regis Mohawk Community Partnership, Upper Canada District School Board, Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, Ontario Power Generation, MCA, Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise, Tarbell Management Group, CAA Management, Lazore Construction, Brass Horse Grill, Julia Back & Family, Louie Peters, Hummingbird Gift Shop, Indian Time, CKON 97.3, Seaway International Bridge Corporation, BMO, Big Boyz Gas & Tobacco, Summer Heights Golf Club, Lawrence Mitchell, Red Drum Motor Cycle Club, Akwesasne Travel, the Point and White Family.

Anyone coming forth to volunteer or offered assistance of any kind, we recognize you and we salute you.

Special thanks to:

TJ Point and his team of hard-working student volunteers, Mike Francis and his crew for looking after parking detail and security, Megan & Team BMO for volunteering to look after our admission gates and Tasha Thompson, who was the artist of our 2022 / 20th Annual Powwow T-shirts.

We are unsure at this time who your powwow committee will be for future Akwesasne powwows. It has been our honor to watch this powwow grow to what it is today. It’s been quite the ride for the past 20 years of bringing our powwow family together, here in Akwesasne, and extending the hospitality of our territory.

Niawen!

Sken:nen / In Peace,

Larry King, Romaine & Bonnie Mitchell
