Phillips begins his sweep in ACL Championships
The Roundtable Cornhole Championship 2022 competitive bracket saw plenty of action and a few surprises. Held in Lockport, NY, the champions of this bracket were Greg Phillips, Akwesasne' Big River Cornhole league and Frank Wesaw for Bucktown Baggerz Cornhole league. They won their first matchup, lost their second and regrouped. They came back to win an amazing 9 matches straight and causing one of the biggest upsets of this tournament.
The Roundtable Cornhole Championship is part of the American Cornhole League (ACL). The ACL promotes and develops cornhole as a sport for any age and any skill level. The organization establishes the rules and regulations to govern the sport around the world. The ACL creates and manages special events, advises on the expansion of outside competitions, develops cornhole equipment, and educates others on how to position the sport for growth and success.
The ACL has three main categories: ACL Pro, ACL College and ACL Juniors. The ACL Pro host a series of national events where players compete for prize money. These events are broadcast on the ESPN platform and other digital outlets.
The National College Cornhole Championship crowns the best college teams and college alumni teams from around the country. It provides scholarship money to students and donations to booster clubs. The open format allows for any size college to participate. The ACL encourages colleges to develop cornhole as an intramural or club sport and develop strategies to leverage cornhole to raise funds for college athletics.
ACL Juniors is a dedicated series for Juniors to compete and earn scholarship money that can be used at any college.
The ACL Championship is a yearlong points series, that consists of local, regional, conference and national events for all ages and skill levels. There are four skill level divisions (Advanced, Competitive, Social, Tailgate) and divisions for Women, Seniors and Juniors.
Phillips looks froward to his next tournament coming up in Rochester and Vernon Downs in March.
