Raiders break Shamrocks' two-year winning streak

 


Massena snapped Salmon River’s two-year 22-game winning streak in a recent tilt in Fort Covington. The Raiders also downed the Shamrocks in boys basketball. Also, a Salmon River skater anchored the offense in a recent Malone victory over Canton.

Tuesday, Feb. 1 boys basketball, Massena 75 Salmon River 32 – Taylor Mitchell tallied a game-high 27 points as the Raiders took a road win in Fort Covington. His teammate Colin Patterson netted 19 points. Rarennenha:wi Cook-Francis led the Shamrocks with 10 points.

Tuesday, Feb. 1 boys hockey, Massena 1 Ogdensburg 1 (OT) – Massena’s Brady Frost and OFA’s Derek Barr scored the only two goals of the game played in Ogdensburg. Massena goalie Benjamin Rogers turned aside 46 shots.

Monday, Jan. 30 boys basketball, Carthage 40 Massena 35 – Colin Patterson scored 11 points to lead the Massena offense as they took a home court loss. Ashton Norton scored a game-high 13 points for Carthage.

Monday, Jan. 30 girls hockey, Massena 5 Plattsburgh 3 – Brooke Terry scored a hat trick for the Raiders in the win at Massena Arena. Ella Matejcik and Harper Oates fired in Massena’s other two goals.

Thursday, Jan. 27 boys basketball, Canton 46 Massena 32 – Taylor Mitchell scored 12 points to pace the Massena offense in a home loss at Massena High School. DeShawn Walton tossed in another 10 points. For Canton, Chris Downs Jr. scored 19 points.

Thursday, Jan. 27 girls hockey, Malone 2 Canton 0 – Kimora Swamp and Lindsey Durant scored Malone’s two goals for a road win in Canton. Gina Norcross kept 20 shots out of the Malone net.

Wednesday, Jan. 26 girls basketball, Massena 50 St. Lawrence 43 – Joey Abrantes anchored the Raiders offense in a home court win, and Chyler Richards scored 11 points. For St. Lawrence, Brionna Foster scored 10 points.

Wednesday, Jan. 26 girls hockey, Potsdam 3 Massena 1 – Karenhatironhtha Johnson netted the lone Raiders goal in a road win at Pine Street Arena in Potsdam. Kennedy Emerson scored twice for the Sandstoners and Danielle Emerson once.

Wednesday, Jan. 26 boys hockey, Massena 2 Salmon River 1 – The Raiders snapped a two-year 22-game winning streak for the Shamrocks at Tom Cavanaugh Arena in Fort Covington. Salmon River goalie Crayton Cree made 33 saves, and Massena netminder Ben Rogers denied 32 scoring attempts. Massena’s Jacob Smutz scored the game-winning goal with 1:44 left in the game. Zack Barney scored Massena’s first goal during a five-on-three power play in the middle stanza. Chase Lewis scored the Shamrocks solo marker.
