Parade of Lights

Floats lined up and ready to roll.

Hosted by the Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment, the Parade of Lights 2021 was a sight to behold. Held on Wednesday evening at 6:30pm, decked out in holiday themed vehicles, they started to line up at 5:30 at the SRMT Clinic road. Over twenty-five businesses, programs, and community members took part this year. Every available parking space along Route 37 between Bear Den and Generation Park was packed. Many vehicles were parked alongside of the road, utilizing every bit of space to view the Parade of Lights.

Everyone was so excited as the long line of decorated utility vehicles, trucks, wagons, trailers and a tractor trailers pulling nine reindeer and Santa - that came all the way from Florida - rolled down Route 37. Many in the parade were playing Christmas music with elves, Santa's helpers, and others dancing along.
