Seneca artist uses blankets, sewing circles for inspiration

 

This 2020 companion work, "Auntie" and "Guardian Tree" by Seneca artist Marie Watt was assembled with the help of a sewing circle at Yale University Art Gallery. It is made from reclaimed wool blankets, embroidery floss, thread, cotton twill tape and tin jingles and is in The Tia Collection in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
