# Of Positions: One (1) position

Term: October 5, 2020 – June 25, 2021

Hours per week: 40 hours per week, Monday- Friday

Workplace: The Akwesasne Freedom School

Qualifications

• 2-4 years’ experience in an accounting and/or finance field

• Ability to understand and/or speak Kanieńkehá

• Ability to work with QuickBooks, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint

• Ability to communicate and maintain good working relations with all staff and students

• Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.

• Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision-making capabilities are essential.

• Must possess a valid drivers’ license and have reliable transportation

• Criminal reference check is mandatory for this position

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Financial:

• Payroll every 2 weeks for all staff

• Manage accounts receivable and payable

• Update parent payments and send out invoices quarterly

• Quarterly expense reports for all funding sources: ANA, Tribe, NCBR, etc.

• Issue checks for supplies, vendors on time

• Make bank deposits in Massena & Cornwall

• Manage and track finances for all funding sources; ANA, Tribe, NCBR, etc.

• Consolidating Bank accounts

• Finding lowest price and highest quality for utilities, supplies and services such as telephone, internet, equipment, etc.

• Managing new accounts as the need arises.

• Attend quarterly budget committee meetings.

Clerical:

• Answering phone

• Order supplies monthly or weekly

• Filing statements, bills, timesheets, etc.

• Keeping files organized and up to date

• Check mail in Rooseveltown & Cornwall

• Logging all mail

• Keep track of employee times; vacation, lateness, sick and personal

Overall:

• Following a reliable and consistent schedule

• Be organized, tidy and efficient

• Be informed of school events, meeting and fundraisers

• Greeting repair, maintenance and/or delivery people as needed

• Providing parents with current events, activities and meetings
