Positivity Parade – 2020 Edition!

Three Nations Planning, Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment, Iakwashatste Program and Akwesasne Youth Council at Twinleaf, Fort Covington.

On Sunday, June 28th from 9am to 11am there was nothing but positivity flowing in Akwesasne. Twinleaf Restaurants in Akwesasne and Fort Covington hosted a Positivity Parade for the area's youth. Three Nations Planning Group, along with CAA Management and Twinleaf joined forces with Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment and Akwesasne Youth Council to hold a drive thru parade with lots of prizes for all. And for kids who found a 'golden egg' in their goody bag, they could choose from variety of summer toys.

Nothing but smiles as vehicles drove through the parade and children were given goody bags along the way.

Their goal was to 'show and maintain positivity to help young kids who don't understand what is happening. COVID-19 came at a time when community groups were preparing for Easter events and then everything was cancelled.'

The Three Nations Planning Group usually hold the annual Fort Covington Easter Egg Hunt in early spring. But with this year being so different from any other, Three Nations Planning changed course and forged ahead - safely – with a positive parade for the children.

Vehicles just had to follow traffic and wave as costumed characters promoted positivity, happy vibes and handed out goody bags. Twinleaf held a breakfast fundraiser to help Three Nations Planning Group raise for future events.
