Yvonne M. Karenhiennehtah Chubb

 

AKWESASNE – With heavy hearts the family of Yvonne M. Karenhiennehtah Chubb, 87, announces her passing on Wednesday (May 13, 2020) at her home. Yvonne was loved and comforted by her family. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, in Moira.

Born at her home in Tsi Snaihne on July 26, 1932 the daughter of the late Joseph & Charlotte (LaFrance) Skeeters. On October 28, 1961, she married Patrick Chubb Sr at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Jacobs celebrating. Yvonne worked at the Lake Placid hotel, taught Mohawk Language at the Twin Rivers Elementary School, was a Teacher at the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Head Start and, in the summers she was a custodial employee at the Robert Moses State Park. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, berry picking, traveling, basket making, playing bingo, watching game shows, going to garage sales, and gatherings with her family. She also enjoyed being a member of the Senior Citizens.


Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her children Margaret (JoJo), Patrick Jr and Michael; all of Akwesasne. Her grandchildren, William (Morgan), Alan (Savannah), Andrew (Kaitlynn), Joleigh, Harrison, River, Tahentahawi (Andrew), Kaniehtaroroks, Karontatsi, and Tekarihorens; her great granddaughters, McKenzie, McKinleigh, and Nia. Her godchildren, Rachel, Arlene, Vanessa, Sharon Mitchell and Kevin Tarbell; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Sr, sisters Elizabeth (at infancy) and Lucy, brother Francis Arquette.
