On the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's February monthly meeting, they 'affirmed their commitment to provide positive futures for our youth by donating $1,000,000 to the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club's Capital Project. The presentation of a one-million-dollar check was preceded by a presentation given by Jessica Cree-Jock, Executive Director, along with staff and club members.

The gift was made possible through SRMT Community Development Fund.

The ABGC's Singing Group gave a beautiful performance which included ABGC Youth of the Year Talon Doxtador. Afterwards, community members commented on the club members use of Kaniehkeha, their singing of traditional songs and overall presentation in public.

The one million will go directly into a new building fund, Cree- Jock stated, "We still have a little bit of a way to go but we hope through this donation, we will be able to leverage these funds to get other large contributions from other funders."

She added, "Niawen to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Council for their continued support and their investment in building great futures here in Akwesasne! A huge thank you to our new building committee members Dale White, Alexandra David, and Toni Barr as well as our ABGC board-members and staff. This contribution helps us move closer to building our dream building!"
