Massena football shut out by Gouverneur; Salmon swimmers unable to top SLC

The Massena Raiders football team and Salmon River Shamrocks swim team lost respective matches to Gouverneur and St. Lawrence Central.

The football game, played Friday, Oct. 11, ended in a 54-0 shutout.

On the defensive side, Dylan Lazore made four tackles and Daryl Lazare contributed one.

Massena quarterback Dominic Monacelli went 4-12 passing for 33 yards and threw two interceptions. He rushed 28 yards on 15 carries. Monacelli also made six tackles on defense.

Ian McDermott made 10 tackles.

Ethan Miller ran 70 yards on 10 rushing tries, returned a kickoff for 20 yards and made two tackles.

Mark Perry caught two passes for 19 yards. Ryan Avery caught a pass for an eight-yard gain. Hunter Pryce caught one pass for six yards and made one tackle.

Christian McSurdy lost 14 yards on six rushing attempts and made one tackle.

Nate Eastwood ran four yards on eight carries.

Zach Austin kicked off twice for 65 yards, punted four times for 55 yards and returned three kickoffs for 45 yards. He also made one tackle.

Preston Guynup made six tackles, and one tackle apiece came from Thomas McGregor and Isiah Austin.

The Shamrocks swim team lost to St. Lawrence Central on Friday, Oct. 11.

In the 200-meter medley relay, Mackenzie Premo, Emily Healy, Celeste Humiston and Kennedy Shatraw finished third in 2:40.35. Leah Oullette, Emily Reardon, Kora Lindley and Sarah Trembley swam to fourth place in 3:14.28.

In the 200 freestyle, Caydan Lauzon came in third in 3:10.68 and Madison Premo finished fourth in 3:11.68.

Healy took second in the 200-individual medley with a 2:53.50. Tremblay was the fourth-place finisher with a 5:02.30.

Shatraw was the second-place finisher in the 50 freestyle, posting a 30.18. Justice Rockhill finished fourth with a 33.52.

In the 100 butterfly, Lindley came in third with a time of 1:44.88.

In the 100 freestyle, Rockhill swam to a second-place finish with a time of 1:17.14. Humiston finished fourth in 1:20.26.

The team of Rockhill, Humiston, Shatraw and Healy came in second in the 200-freestyle relay, posting a time of 2:13.16. Fourth place went to a contingent comprised of Reardon, Tremblay, Lauzon and Ouellette.

Mackenzie Premo timed third in the 100 backstroke with a 1:31.32. Ouellette came in fourth with 1:52.62.

Healy finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:33.02. Reardon came in fourth, posting 1:55.33.

In the 400-freestyle relay, third place went to Mackenzie Premo, Madison Premo, Humiston and Rockhill with a time of 5:40.16. Fourth place was Lindley, Tremblay, Ouellette and Lauzon with a time of 6:42.17.

Massena swimming lost to St. Lawrence 60-34 on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and to Gouverneur 87-82 on Thursday, Oct. 10.
