The Kawehnoke Recreation Committee (KRC) extends their gratitude and appreciation to the Akwesasne Mohawk Community Settlement Trust for their financial support to the revitalization and modernization of the KRC kitchen.

Approved funding allowed the committee to meet the goal of designing a more modern and functional kitchen, while meeting the fundamental and paramount goal of health and safety in food preparation, cleanliness and serving. KRC serves as a venue to a number of agencies, organizations, local caterers and community members, to host meetings, funeral meals, birthday/anniversary parties etc. Having a newly renovated kitchen that meets both building code and health and safety standards is reassuring to the committee.

The revitalization of the kitchen includes the following: a conveyor toaster, a stainless steel 6 burner with 24" griddle stove, stainless steel industrial dish washer, 2 section reach in stainless steel fridge and freezer, stainless steel microwave, built in pantry, stainless steel counter tops in the kitchen, all new kitchen cabinets, all new lighting, stationary island in the kitchen, barn door, new cabinets in the multi-purpose room with new counter tops and back splash, with the storage room made 3' larger with permanent shelving.

The KRC would also like to extend a niawenkowa to the MCA Department of Technical Services for the joint consultation and open communication at every step of the construction phase of the project.

Once again Niawenkowa
