There will be two seats open on the Akwesasne Communications Society Board of Directors. An election will be held to fill (1) one-year term and (1) two-year term.

Board of Directors Responsibilities: The Board of Directors provides oversight for the 97.3 CKON Radio Station. They develop and ensure policies are followed. The Board also ensures financial transparency to the community of Akwesasne.

If a community member is interested in submitting their name as a candidate to become a member on the Akwesasne Communications Society Board of Directors, please pick up an application at the CKON radio station. All applications must be signed declaring candidacy. To qualify as candidate, one must be at least 19 years of age and in possession of a Red Card, Certificate of Indian Status Card, or a Tribal Identification Card. Completed applications must be submitted to Sarena “Reen” Cook, Acting Station Manager at the radio station, or electronically by e-mail. The deadline for submitted completed applications is Thursday, October 3, 2019 by 4:00 PM.

A voting station will be held from 11:30 AM – 5:30 PM on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Senior Center in Hogansburg. The successful candidate’s names will be announced at 6:00 PM and on CKON Radio. They will be contacted to be present at the annual meeting.
