Iroquois Consulting Group Continues to Develop
The Iroquois Consulting Group LLC (ICG) is pleased to announce the addition of two prominent researchers to their advanced nutraceutical research and development program. Daegan Gonyer and Dr. Shawn Clark have made official commitments to join ICG to help guide and develop its HEMP based research and development efforts.
The Iroquois Consulting Group LLC was founded in 2015 by Akwesasne natives Kelly Mitchell and Vaughn Aldrich. The focus of the company is the advancement of the ideas of plant formulated medicines as the cornerstone for living a more fulfilling and healthy life. Currently the group is involved in the production and manufacturing of CBD and THC related products. These processes provide a continuous supply of highly qualified material, such as extracted oils, for use in their research and development trials as well as for retail sale.
To guarantee that only the highest quality materials are being delivered to their consumers and going into their own research and development trials ICG grows small batches of products in environmentally controlled ISO lv6 cleanrooms. To maintain the clean environment throughout the process all downstream lab facilities including the extraction and R&D labs are maintained at the higher ISO Iv5 standard. Thus, providing a pharmaceutical grade scrutiny of the final product.
The scientific team leaders Daegan Gonyer and Dr. Shawn Clark bring extensive expertise in two key areas, 1) strain genetics and greenhouse technologies, and 2) process manufacturing and pharmaceutical design.
Daegan Gonyer was named a National Science Foundation Research Fellow in 2011. His research, which has received domestic and international awards, focuses on optimizing environmental parameters to particular horticultural species based on desired feature expression. This includes lighting spectrum, intensity, and scheduling, as well as nutrient profile, nutrient and water delivery, temperature and humidity phasing, intentional stressor application, and symbiotic applications. Mr. Gonyer has also researched horticultural production, integrated waste management and energy producing synergistic systems. This translates into producing a high yield crop, optimized for a desired feature, as quickly and efficiently as possible. Mr. Gonyer’s work applied across multiple various crops has on average resulted in a 25% faster growth cycle while using 60% less resources. His research has resulted in granted and pending patents.
After 13 years of study and acquiring five degrees Dr. Shawn Clark completed his post-doctoral dissertation at the Harvard School of Medicine in 2007. He was recruited by a private contract research organization (CRO) where he worked as the Director of Protein Technologies. Much of his work focused on helping private companies and government agencies complete technically challenging tasks in product purification and pharmaceutical design. In 2015 Dr. Clark started a research and development firm focused on HEMP based products. After many years of guarded research, he now holds proprietary technologies in what he calls the ”four pillars” of HEMP: food, energy, building and medicine. Currently, Dr. Clark’s team is focused on developing a better understanding of what effect each compound, found in the broad-spectrum CBD oil, has on the human body. Most CBD based therapies suggest using a broad-spectrum CBD oil. This oil can contain dozens of active compounds having effects on everything from cancer to epilepsy. Unfortunately, in this complex mixture some compounds work together and some work against each other. In order to be an effective product these discrepancies need to be understood and addressed. In this way we can develop more effective therapies by removing counterproductive compounds and we can provide accurate dosing guidelines based on real kinetic data.
Some of Dr. Clarks side projects in HEMP include food and industrial building materials. On the food side the team is only weeks away from the launch of their new HEMP protein-based breakfast bar, which will be followed by a line of CBD infused products in the coming months. ”This is only the start of our product profile. We have more than 50 new products slated for market release over the next two years.”, says Clark.
ICG is also currently focusing on ”Bio-Crete”, a high-strength modified HEMP based building material. Dr. Clark is close to finalizing a Bio-Crete, HEMP based high-strength concrete formulation that can be pumped through a large 3-D printing machine to print a home. “It is an incredibly efficient process and the benefits of using the HEMP based material are numerous”, says Clark.
As ICG grows now and through the future it is their vision to support the Akwesasne community by providing access to the necessities of life. Food, shelter, heat and medicine are the basic needs that all peoples should have the right to. ICG feels this industry can be the foundation of building a strong and prosperous community where all can enjoy success and fulfillment. This will be done not only through the creation of jobs in the local community but in better education for the young and community awareness about health and lifestyle choices.
Once ICG is further develops in Akwesasne, Mitchell and Aldridge feel its an opportunity for Akwesasne community members to become ‘active participants with ICG program’ under the guidance of Dr. Clark and Professor Daegan to ensure the ‘highest standard of cultivation’ is achieved.
ICG continues to meet with Akwesasne’s councils and community members as they grow and establish themselves.
