Niawen
The family of the late Kenny Leaf wishes to extend a heart-felt Niawen:Kowa for all of the love and support that was shown during the July 27th March For Justice. To see so many people join together to become one voice, the voice of a much-loved community member who was stolen from us, has helped to renew our hopes that we are not alone in the search for answers and the truth.
We wish to thank:
The Laughing Family for allowing us to use their property to gather together.
The Kanienkeheka Kaianerehkowa Kanonsesneh Longhouse for the use of the cookhouse.
Tracie Cook, Jennifer Boots and Bernadine Boots for helping to organize this gathering and making sure everyone was taken care of.
Chad Back and Pat Phillips for helping to set up and keep the fire burning for the 365 minutes.
The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police for providing the escort to ensure the safety of those who were marching and also for setting up their Command Unit to be readily available to receive tips and information.
The Indian Time Newspaper and CKON radio for providing publication to promote the awareness of this event.
The Akwesasne Resource Centre for donating flyers.
Our family wishes to acknowledge that during the past 18 months of this on-going devastating tragedy, we have always felt the compassion, empathy, support and generosity of the community of Akwesasne – this has touched our hearts deeply and there are no words to express our gratitude, appreciation and love.
Niawen:kowa,
The Leaf Family
